Braces for a Cause: Pink Rubber Bands Support Breast Cancer Awareness in October

October 17th, 2023

October isn't just about pumpkin spice lattes and Halloween costumes; it's also Breast Cancer Awareness Month! At Bluestone Orthodontics, we believe that small actions can lead to significant change. That's why, this October, we're introducing a special initiative to support breast cancer awareness and research. For every patient who chooses pink rubber bands for their braces, we will donate $5 to this important cause.

Why Pink Rubber Bands?

You might be wondering why we've chosen pink rubber bands. The color pink has long been associated with breast cancer awareness. It symbolizes hope, strength, and unity in the fight against this disease that affects so many lives.

Breast cancer is a global health concern, impacting women and men of all ages. The disease has touched the lives of countless individuals, whether through a family member, friend, or personally. It's a cause close to our hearts, and we want to make a meaningful contribution to support breast cancer awareness and research.

How Can You Participate?

Participating in this initiative is easy and fun! When you visit our practice during October for your orthodontic appointment, simply choose pink rubber bands for your braces. These colorful bands are a small way to show your support and make a big difference. For every patient who selects pink rubber bands, we will donate $5 to breast cancer research organizations.

Whether you're already a patient or considering orthodontic treatment, this is an opportunity for you to contribute to a vital cause. Together, we can make a positive impact on breast cancer awareness and research.

The Impact of Your Choice

The $5 donations will add up quickly, and we are committed to directing these funds to Sentara RMH Funkhouser Women's Center which provides essential support services and contributes to research efforts. By keeping the donations within our community, we aim to create a meaningful impact where it matters most.

Spread the Word!

We encourage our patients to share their commitment to this cause on social media using the hashtag #BracesForACause. By doing so, you can inspire others to join in our effort to support breast cancer awareness and research.

Breast cancer awareness is about more than just wearing pink; it's about taking action. Join us in making a difference, one pink rubber band at a time.

At Bluestone Orthodontics, we believe in beautiful smiles and making a positive impact in our community. Thank you for being a part of this meaningful cause. Together, we can work toward a future where breast cancer is no longer a threat.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is the ideal time to take action. Choose pink rubber bands this October and let your smile shine in support of a great cause. Together, we can create a world free from breast cancer.

Embrace your summer smile!

July 18th, 2023

Summer is a season of fun, relaxation, and sunny adventures. It's also a great time to prioritize your oral health and achieve the smile you've always wanted. The summer season provides numerous advantages and opportunities to embark on your orthodontic journey. In this blog post, we'll explore the reasons why summer is the perfect time for braces and how it can lead to a more confident and radiant smile. If you are ready to schedule your FREE orthodontic consultation with Dr. Lenz, please call us at (540) 433-1060.

  1. Ample Time for Adjustment: One of the primary advantages of getting braces during the summer is the ample time available for adjustment. Summer breaks from school or work often provide a window of opportunity to adapt to wearing braces and to allow your mouth to acclimate to the changes. The initial discomfort and adjustment period that accompanies braces can be easier to manage when you have more free time to rest and recover. By starting your orthodontic treatment during the summer, you'll have a head start in adapting to the new braces routine before returning to your regular schedule.
  2. Convenient Follow-Up Appointments: Orthodontic treatments require periodic adjustments and follow-up appointments. Scheduling these appointments during the summer months can be more convenient since you have more flexibility in your schedule. You won't need to worry about missing school or work as frequently, allowing you to attend appointments without disruption. Summer also tends to be a less busy time for orthodontists, making it easier to secure appointment slots that fit your schedule.
  3. Increased Comfort in Hot Weather: Summer weather often brings warmer temperatures, which can contribute to increased comfort when wearing braces. The heat can help alleviate any initial discomfort associated with braces, as warm temperatures tend to relax muscles and ease tension. Additionally, with the consumption of cool beverages, ice cream, and refreshing foods more prevalent during the summer months, the soothing relief can make wearing braces a more pleasant experience.
  4. Confidence Boost for Social Activities: Summer is synonymous with socializing, attending parties, and participating in outdoor activities. While some may feel self-conscious about wearing braces, summer provides a perfect opportunity to embrace your orthodontic journey. By starting your treatment during the summer, you'll be on your way to a straighter smile, and by the time fall arrives, you'll already begin to see noticeable improvements. Imagine the confidence you'll exude as you flash your radiant smile during beach outings, family gatherings, or summer events. Summer memories will be forever imprinted with your journey towards a more beautiful smile.
  5. Transition Period for Dietary Adjustments: Braces often come with certain dietary restrictions, such as avoiding sticky or hard foods that can damage the wires or brackets. Summertime allows for a smoother transition to these dietary adjustments. With an abundance of fresh fruits, salads, and lighter fare, you'll find it easier to navigate your dietary choices while maintaining a healthy and balanced meal plan. Summer also offers a wide range of delicious smoothies, slushies, and frozen treats that are gentle on your braces and can provide relief on hot days.

Choosing to get braces during the summer is a decision that can positively impact both your oral health and your overall well-being. By taking advantage of the summer break and the unique benefits it provides, you'll have the time and freedom to adjust to braces comfortably. Don't let the initial uncertainties deter you from achieving the smile you've always wanted. Embrace the summer season as an opportunity to transform your dental aesthetics and embark on a journey towards improved oral health, boosted confidence, and a lifetime of beautiful smiles.
